Morey-St-Denis 1er Cru Les Sorbets Bichot
Contents
Sweetness: Dry
Grape: Pinot Noir
Grape info: In the northern Côte de Nuits, Morey-St-Denis boasts wines equal in class to those of Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny. Here, limestone-rich soils produce Pinot Noirs of great elegance, structure and depth. The premiere cru "Les Sorbets” vineyard lies just across the road from the famous grand crus of Clos des Lambrays and Clos de Tart.
About: Founded in 1831, Albert Bichot’s vineyards now encompass six estates that cover Burgundy from north to south. Working together with their grower partners, they practise sustainable viticulture with a commitment to converting fully to organic viticulture in the Côte d’Or.
Aged entirely in oak with a proportion (30-35%) in new oak for a total period of 14-16 months.
Tasting note: A nose redolent of wild, sour cherry with notes of leather and a hint of oak. With age, it acquires more complex aromas of truffle, mushroom and spice. Well balanced and superbly structured with flavours of red berries and liquorice. The finish is generous and deliciously fruity.
Character: Complex, Cherries, spice.
