Grape info: Spain’s most planted red variety, famous for its role in the blends of Rioja. Tempranillo produces firmly tannic wines with notes of leather, tobacco, spice and sometimes strawberries.

About: The grapes for Rio del Rey are specially selected from La Rioja Alta and La Rioja Alavesa. The wines are produced for modern tastes, whilst keeping true to the heritage of Rioja.

Tasting note: A year in oak barrels lends this wine an attractive nose of cedar, leather and tobacco married with concentrated dark fruits, and well-integrated tannins.
