Grape info: Spain’s most planted red variety, famous for its role in the blends of Rioja. Tempranillo produces firmly tannic wines with notes of leather, tobacco, spice and sometimes strawberries.

About: The grapes for Rio del Rey are specially selected from La Rioja Alta and La Rioja Alavesa. The wines are produced for modern tastes, whilst keeping true to the heritage of Rioja.

Tasting note: Deep black fruits and sweet spices such as nutmeg and mace dominate this full bodied Reserva. A rounded mouthfeel with a smooth vanilla tannin leads to a satisfying length.

Character: Blackcurrant, black cherry, spice
