An intense but persistent nose, with aromas of sweet spice and hints of chocolate and tar. Ripe cherries and plums on the palate with a hint of dried herbs. Full-bodied and well-balanced with good structure and tannins.

Grape info: The enduringly popular Montepulciano is Italy’s fourth most planted variety. Generally speaking, two contrasting styles can be found: light, fruity and uncomplicated or muscular and rich with ripe cherry notes, dried herbs and abundant but soft tannins.
About: The Fantini group was founded in 1994 by Valentino Sciotti with the aim to produce top-quality wine from Abruzzo. The grapes for this wine come from the small farms controlled by the Farnese group in the areas around Ortona, San Salvo and Pollutri. The vine age here is between 25 and 50 years. The vineyards have a south-eastern exposure and the soils are a mixture of clay and limestone.
Matured in oak for twelve months before bottling.
