Grape: Nebbiolo
Grape info: Italy’s greatest, native red grape, making two of their most famous wines: Barolo and Barbaresco. Like Pinot Noir, it has an almost mythical ability to communicate the fine nuances of terroir. Light in colour, very high in tannin, and capable of producing some of the greatest wines in the world.
About: Now third-generation winemakers, the Lanzavecchia family have been making wine in the Seralunga d’Alba for over fifty years. Grapes are hand-harvested from the hills around Langhe and fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. Bottled without aging at the beginning of the year following the harvest.
Tasting note: A perfumed nose of violets, roses, cherries and raspberries. Assertive tannins with a balancing acidity and long finish.
Character: Cherry, violet, rose.
