Sweetness: Dry
Grapes: Grenache Noir, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Clairette, Counoise, Vaccarèse (Brun Argenté)
Grape info: Predominantly Grenache (70%) with around 15% Syrah and Mourvèdre, hand-harvested from vines with an average age of 75 years. Grenache provides a ripe fruitiness and deep colour along with a herby, spicey character. Syrah lends its signature soft tannins, weighty mid-palate and notes of leather, liquorice, and black pepper. Mourvèdre provides structural tannins and blackberry notes.
About: Founded in 1968, Domaine Perrin encompasses forty hectares of vineyards, over fifteen of which are within the Chateauneuf appellation. Now run by Roger’s grandson Xavier, Domaine Perrin have risen to become one of the most respected producers in the region, guided by tradition, producing wines of great finesse and expression.
A proportion of the wine is aged in oak (30-40%), with 15-20% in new oak and the remainder in enamel lined tanks for a total period of 12-15 months before blending and bottling.
