Grape info: Though other varieties are permitted in Beaujolais, the majority are made entirely from Gamay. The decline in fashion for Beaujolais Nouveau has seen Gamay shake off its reputation for thin, watery wines to embrace a new generation of ambitious producers making substantial wines that demonstrate Gamay’s fine, refreshing and subtly peppery character.
About: Located in the heart of Beaujolais, this family-owned winery with roots dating back to 1601 has been in the Perrachon family since 1877. Despite the weight of history, Laurent Perrachon and his two sons Maxime and Adrien have always taken a modern, open-minded and progressive approach to winemaking.
Semi-carbonic maceration with a daily pump-over. Fermentation lasts 6-8 days. Maceration at controlled temperatures with complete malolactic fermentation and an aging period of 6 months in concrete tanks.
