Grape info: For many, Puligny-Montrachet represents the summit of Chardonnay’s potential in Burgundy. The wines, although analogous to their neighbours in Meursault, are distinct for their taught precision and fine, mineral structure.
About: Founded in 1831, Albert Bichot’s vineyards now encompass six estates that cover Burgundy from north to south. Working together with their grower partners, they practise sustainable viticulture with a commitment to converting fully to organic viticulture in the Côte d’Or.
Between 15-35% of the wine is aged in new oak with the remainder in used oak barrels.
Tasting note: The nose develops subtle aromas of dried fruit, almond, apricot as well as hawthorn flower and candied fruit. The palate is round and structured, harmonious and well balanced with a long, refreshing finish.
