Wines
Altano Douro Blanco
Sweetness: Dry
Grape: Malvasia Fina, Viosinho, Rabigato, Moscatel Galego.
Grape info: Malvasia Fina produces wines relatively high in alcohol with moderate acidity. The best examples can be perfumed, age-worthy and respond well to barrel fermentations. Viosinho adds a balanced and aromatic profile while Rabigato lends its signature acidity with aromas of lemon and orange blossom.
About: Pioneers of modern Douro wines, the Symington family began producing Douro DOC wines in the late 1990s from the same vineyards and indigenous grape varieties that had always made great port. The grapes for the Altano whites come from specific vineyards privately owned by members of the family and selected farmers with vineyards in higher altitude areas.
Tasting note: Intense pale straw in colour, revealing bright wildflower aromas as well as citrus and apple scents. The palate is lively with fresh tropical fruit flavours which are enhanced and balanced by a crips acidity.
Character: Citrus, green apple, floral.
