Domaine Durand Sancerre Cuvee Vieilles Vig
Contents
Sweetness: Dry
Grape: Sauvignon Blanc
Grape info: Sauvignon Blanc finds its purest and most celebrated expression in Sancerre. Unblended and unoaked the finest examples produce a lively, youthful fruitiness that can benefit from a year in bottle and successfully translate subtle nuances of terroir into the glass. Those designated ‘Vieilles Vignes’ are made using fruit from older, less productive vines, resulting in more concentrated flavours.
About: Founded in 1962 the Durand estate eventually expanded to include 43 hectares of vines: 33 in and around Sancerre with a further ten in Menetou-Salon. Working in the principle of minimum intervention with the utmost respect for the environment, wines are made with great care in-situ and have established the domaine’s excellent reputation.
Tasting note: A concentrated nose of candied fruits and white flowers. The palate is complex and well-structured, showing notes of passionfruit and gooseberry with a racy acidity and refreshing finish.
Character: Exotic, youthful, floral
